In November 2020 we are seeing a surge in COVID-19 in Alaska and around the nation. Rest assured, KPDI is taking all safety precautions to keep our students safe. Our 1:1 training ratio means we can limit group sizes and sanitize regularly. Social distancing is also utilized at our school whenever possible.
Graduate Report: In October we had 11 students complete their CDL Training programs and pass their road skills exams. Many of these students are returning to their jobs and earning a pay increase. Students who are new to the industry can access our job portal as well as our office staff actively working with local companies seeking drivers.
Upcoming: The Annual Christmas Comes to Kenai lights parade is on for November 27th! This is one of our favorite events of the year and owner Alex Douthit and his helpers are already gearing up the decorations! Stay tuned as we turn our flat bed trailer into a brilliant holiday display!
CDL Training: Our CDL programs are one to one training every day. We are currently training three students per day.
Our Beginner CDL Training exceeds ELDT (Entry Level Driver Training) federal requirements. In leu of classroom instruction, our trainings are COVID-19 friendly with a CD-ROM based training to completed your classroom instruction. Currently, we are scheduling CDL Trainings for December 2020. Student housing is also available with private rooms.
Grant Funding: KPDI was approved for 2020-21 DOL STEP grant funding. Applications are available by request on our website and are reviewed by KPDI staff. We always encourage prospective students to contact DOL Career Support & Training Services (CSTS) for even more possible grant funding options.
New Driver Training: Our next new driver course begins on November 7th. This class is full. IDEA & Connections Funding accepted.
